Rent Tuscany - PROFILE: Villa Corsano, an 18th century villa, is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards among the hills of Crete Senesi, a surreal clay hills landscape a few minutes south of Siena area. The gardens of the villa are designed following the classical Italian style and this theme continues in the frescoed ceiling ballroom at the groundfloor, where the walls are covered with ''trompe l''oeuil'' paintings of exotic birds, flowers, and plants. Beside the drawing room, the ground floor also comprises a junior suite for two people with large windows overlooking the park and a terracotta arch housing a library. Nearby is a bathroom with hand-made tiles from Amalfi.
The large internal courtyard with its loggia is comfortably furnished for eating "al fresco". On this same level is a 17th century dining hall, with the huge sit-in fireplace, published in many books. The dining tables seat up to 20 people, perfect for an elegant banquet. The 16th century Siennese marble sink is a very special feature, but also the original antique tiled floors and the antique furniture. Beyond the dining hall is a kitchen with modern equipment and professional cooking facilities, suitable also for large receptions.
From the ground floor an old stairway with painting leads up to the first floor which counts five bedrooms , all characterized by tall windows, high ceilings and plenty of light. The first one , called "Frate Sole" is surrounded by frescoes representing the "Cantico delle Creature" by San Francesco, painted by Dario Neri. This double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower.
A magnificent Murano glass chandelier, frescoes of angels on the ceiling and a magnificent 17th century Siennese painting define the master bedroom . Its en-suite bathroom has a bathtub. Then a third bedroom, called Cor-sanum, has three single four-poster beds, a nice fireplace and an en suite bathroom with shower . The fourth bedroom has two single beds and an open free-standing antique bathtub and sink inside the room. The final bedroom on this floor has a double bed, with a television and a small kitchenette. A bathroom with shower is shared between these last two rooms. From the large windows it is possible to catch a glimpse of Siena in the distance.
Further four bedrooms at the top floor, set in a Tuscan rustic style and terracotta floors . A double bedroom with wooden beamed ceilings has spectacular views of the box hedge gardens. Its bathroom with shower is on the other side of the corridor. Two bedrooms follows, one with a queen-sized bed, and a new en-suite bathroom with shower, the other with two twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower. Nearby there''s a fully-equipped modern kitchen with washing machine and fridge . A fourth bedroom has again a charming low-beamed ceiling, two twin beds, television and en-suite bathroom with shower and tub, featuring hand painted ''trompe l''oeuil'' tiles.
Tuscany Accommodation - FACILITIES: pool 7x14, internet, extra cleaning 15 euro/1h, 10 bedrooms, 9 bathroomns, dishwasher, washing machine. The nice box hedges garden leads into the pool area, enclosed in olive plants and cypresses. The area is furnished with wooden tables and sun beds and some nice shadowed pergolas.
Rent Tuscany - WHERE WE ARE: Villa Corsano is ideally located at about 15 Km South-West of Siena. Touristic and historical places of interest, such as Florence, Montepulciano, Pienza, San Quirico d''Orcia, Montalcino, San Gimignano, Volterra, are within an hour from the estate. |
